Negombo city, Sri Lanka should be your first stop as it is the nearest city to the Colombo International Airport. This city is considered as the top tourist destinations in Sri Lanka. Lot of foreign Tourists Negombo is the Gateway to Sri Lanka once they come out of the Colombo International Airport. The City is located in the coastal area of Sri Lanka and it can be easily reached from the Bandaranaike International Airport in short time ( Just 7 Km from Colombo Airport). It is located approximately 37 km north of the Colombo city centre. During the Dutch, Portuguese and British colonial era this city was the main exporting harbor for aromatic spices, specially for the locally produced cinnamon to Europe. Another important land mark of the city is its long running Dutch Canal that was used by the Dutch rulers to transport goods to and from large ships that were anchored in the deep sea during their rule.
