Dalada Maligawa.

  • Buddhist shrine contains the Holy Tooth Relics of Lord Buddha.
  • This is a place for worshiping for world Buddhist followers.
  • This is not a tourist destination, but it attracts lot of them.
  • When entering this place dress code applies.
  • Dress like you are attending your Sunday church service.
  • Long dresses are requested which must cover up to your ankle and up to your sleeves.
  • You have to remove your foot wear at the entrance.
  • Don't visit this place under the influence of hard drinks.
  • Don't take photos showing your back to Lord Buddha images.
  • Also don't take photos in front of the preserved (stuffed) "Raja" Elephant showing your back.
  • Avoid taking infants with you inside the complex as their crying may disturb pilgrims who are chanting or meditating in the prayer halls.
  • If you are a foreigner you need to buy an entrance ticket.
  • You will need 2 - 3 hours to visit and view all the statues, buildings and to participate in the daily Pooja Rituals.
