Rentals of rooms, cars, Jeeps, Motorcycles, Scooters and beach sports items on daily or weekly basis are for the visiting Tourists in Sri Lanka. As per the Room rental they include Apartment, rooms and bed for pack packers. For the Beach explorers motorcycle, scooter, tuk tuk, fishing boat, scuba diving units, skate boards, Go Pro camera or anything else you may want. If you are going to rent a hotel room, apartment or villa, it is advisable to reserve it months before your arrival here as there may be lot of people used to come over here. It may be difficult to find rooms at the peak of the local tourist season specially in Kandy and Ella. Things like surf boards, GoPro sports camera, bicycles and many more things are available on rent in the beach areas with a small deposit. These are instantly available from companies and individuals in and around your hotel location. You have to make a small deposit and your passport copy to those people before you get the things from them on daily rental basis. Never provide your passport to any rental service provider. It is against the law. Rentals in Ella region is little higher than the other places. This is due to higher number of Tourist and higher demand.

For renting Motorbike, Scooter (Moped), Tuk Tuk (Three Wheel), Jeep or Car you must have your own driving license from your country of residency.
When looking for hotel rooms in the hill region, check whether they have lift in it. Check whether you have to climb steep steps to reach it.
For tuk tuk rental the company personal (Ceylontusker) will provide Tuk Tuk driver training and will assist you to obtain a local Tuk Tuk riding License.

When renting a product, inspect it very well. Check whether it is functioning perfectly and look for any damage or scratches on its body as the owner may protest for such things and can claim damage for the products. Get a video of the product body, before you rent it.

If you are hiring a bicycle to ride around the city or to go on a small tour, you have to follow the road rules of the country and if you violate any of the country road rules you may be prosecuted by the police department in the Sri Lanka courts.

Always agree for the products rental charges on local rupees and check the charges whether it is on hourly basis or on daily basis before accepting the product. Also check the time that you have to return your rented product. If you think that the owner is trying to cheat you don't hesitate to call the tourist police for to assist you.

Traveling in Public Tuk Tuk.

If you are renting out a Tuk Tuk (auto) for a short distance, check the three wheel have "working" tariff meter. Some "Auto" drivers may not like to use the Tariff Meters and will try to charge heavy price for the trip. While some may have the meter but it won't work. So make sure it is running. And the charge is displayed in local Rs and pay as per it. Paying a small tip is not bad. Always get an "Auto" from a stand than stopping and getting a running one. It is easy to track it back, if you had left anything inside of it. Currently Rs 120/- will be charged for the first Kilometer and each additional KM will be charged on Rs 100/- It is not necessary to tip the driver but you can pay any amount for his good behavior.

Taxis of reputed companies are the best option for night time travelling, specially for foreign ladies. You can call their offices to book them in advance too. Hotel reception too offers private cars for hire for their guests.

Motorbike rental.

Lot of motorcycle renting companies are available in the Negombo area. (Check this website ceylontusker.) They are providing Honda XLR, Honda XR 250 Baja, Honda XR 250, Honda XR 230, FMX 650, Honda FX 650, India made Royal Enfield Classic 350 ( Like Harley Davidson) and Honda Dio Scooter (Moped), Yamaha FZ scooters too are available at reasonable rental rate on daily basis.

Beach Rentals.

Rowing boats, surfing board, Scuba diving apparatus, cameras, underwater cameras too are available for rental on daily basis.
