Galle Dutch Fort in Sri Lanka is one of the main tourist attractions in this beautiful Island nation. The port city is located in the southern part of Sri Lanka. This place contains lot of historical buildings and sites. They offer visitors to inspect the early European building technology and their beautiful structure. Visiting Tourists can go to the nearby Ocean for swimming, diving, sea bath. Also they can wander around its narrow streets filled with shops and Restaurants. This area offers fine dining with fresh seafood and it is a good place for shopping for gem Stones. Galle Fort area offers shops that are selling Sri Lanka's best Natural Gem Stones. You won't see much stones like here as a tourist in any part of Sri Lanka. Rent a bicycle or scooter to round through the fort shopping area and the outer lanes. If you don't have anything to do here, take a walk to the Galle main city and have a look around there to see fascinating large shops and stalls. Galle Fort area is normally filled with bright sun light and fresh air except for the rainy season. Galle Fort was first built by the Portuguese in the year 1588 and later it was extensively fortified by the Dutch Government during its rule around 1600. At the time Sri Lanka was called as Ceylon.
Marvelous Churches, Hospital and other buildings that still remains make you to wonder of the ancient European Architecture. The arches on each of the buildings, upstairs building with balconies, their verandahs and the specially built green terrace squares will remind you of its ancient marvel. Stone paved narrow roads on both sides are filled with small restaurants, bars, coffee shops, spa and souvenir shops will surely attract you venture in to them. No noise pollution in this place and that is the best thing inside of this Fort area, if you don't mind thesound of blowing sea wind over you.
You can make your own tour, if you have the map of the fort. Any how you can find local tour guides who are ready to walk with you or to take you on a Jeep tour for a whole day.
